In the merry month of June past graduation day,
My green eyed, blue hair gal and I planned a little getaway.
We’ll be selling our paintings hop the railway from our home,
Two lovin’ hearts makin’ art thirstin’ to roam.
We’ll be hoboin’ it on the rails from dawn to sunset.
Passin’ the bottle, rollin’ the dice kissin’ in the woods just yet.
I hear the train will be slowing down a hundred miles from town.
Put your hand in mine and from the box car with a bound.
A leap of faith there is no losin’,
Hoppin’ in a field of black eyed susan.
Let me tell you about my girl miss Angelina Black,
Braids, freckles, rosy cheeks, she loves the clickety-clack.
On the jukebox over at Nick-A-Nees she plays that honky-tonk.
She’s allergic to automobiles, rather be caught ridin’ a bronc.
We’ll be hoboin’ it on the rails from dawn to sunset.
Passin’ the bottle, rollin’ the dice kissin’ in the woods just yet.
A leap of faith there is no losin’,
Hoppin’ in a field of black eyed susan.

Morgan Johnston - Seeds

Know that all the seeds blown from the stem will be flowers again
So the wind blows, so the wind blow, so the wind blows, so the wind blows
And the seeds are carried, and the seeds are carried, and the seeds are carried home
Trust that where I’m supposed to be is exactly where I am is exactly where I’ll land
Here I am, Here I stand, As I am, Here I am
Know that of all the seeds blown from the stem, I will grow again

When I feel like I know what I'm doing,
I know that the feeling is far from the city-
Where the blades of grass move as one
And the wind sings like Whitman,
His cheeks rosy and puffed.
And it's best when you're standing beside me-
Both rendered speechless by landscape and insects.
Though our shadows stay out of the pictures,
Us tumbleweed kids
Will take a piece of this
Wherever we roam.
As the white seeds start to fly,
We watch our wishes-fuzzy up against a cloudless sky.
Intoxicated by the lightness of the dandelion smoke.

How
How
How
How did we get here now?
How
How
How
How did we get here now?
Blue skies feels nice
blue skies all right
blue skies
I just opened my eyes and I saw
Blue skies all right
blue skies feels nice
blue skies
I just opened my eyes
and I saw
How
How
How
How do we get there now?
How
How
How
How did we get here now?
I was walkin’ you were talkin’ about
I was walkin and I opened my eyes
and I saw
I was walkin’ you were talkin’ about
I was walkin and I opened my eyes
and I saw
How
How
How
How did we get here now?
How
How
How
How do we get here now?
Blue skies feels nice
blue skies all right
blue skies
I just opened my eyes and I saw
Blue skies feels nice
blue skies all right
blue skies
I just opened my eyes and I saw

from the hill, the tallest building is so small
you can see a hundred houses and count them all
a crowd appeared one april morning to watch the water towers fall
now it's just as if they were never built
looking out from the hill
on the hill, we saw a falcon in the trees
piercing eyes, mighty talons, iron beak
bird of prey or city slicker, if you need a place to be
quiet and patient, silent and still
you'll find it on the hill
wonder pill, lucky clover, spirit guide
never got me any closer to the sky
where the loud and lonely highway is nothing but a sigh
gravity's got nothing on human will
let's climb up on the hill

Looking through the window of the bakery
You caught my eye
The perfect cake for me
Right then I knew we were meant to be
I thought it must have been a fantasy
Smooth soft frosting whiter than the snow
Bright red cherries that seemed like they could glow
Three vanilla layers that I could get to know
And baby as a pastry you had nowhere else to go
When I saw that perfect cherry cake
I didn't know how much I should take
I got a little bit greedy
Turned into a little bit needy
Started taking out chunks by hand
In a minute you couldn't stand
Bakers say
Frosting's like glue
But I can see
That didn't work on you
Now I don't know what to do
Because who wants a twisted cake like you
Buttercream won't make it better
Or trying out a different platter
If you don't keep it together
You'll be a twisted cake forever
I didn't want it to be over
So I scraped the bowl and found
More frosting to smooth it over
But it just weighed you down
When I saw that perfect cherry cake
I didn't know how much I should take
I got a little bit greedy
Turned into a little bit needy
Started taking out chunks by hand
In a minute you couldn't stand
Bakers say
Frosting's like glue
But I can see
That didn't work on you
Now I don't know what to do
Because who wants a twisted cake like you?
Now I've found another cake
Another innocent soul to take
Another big mistake
But aren't they all
Now I don't know what to do
Because who wants a twisted cake like you?
Who wants a twisted cake like you?

In the middle of the night
I crawl over the sheets
To nest your body next to mine
You've grown used to
Midnight attacks
A flurry of kisses on your shoulder
When the day gets tangled
I trace the red patchwork
Back to our pillows
Where we were bundled
The good and the bad,
And the good and the bad and the all
How could I sleep with
Such a beautiful being right beside me
But if I unspool the minutes of the night
The strands wouldn't be as compelling
As forgetting to breathe
As forgetting to speak
As forgetting to be here with you in a bundle
As forgetting to see
All the things I could be outside of this bed
Right here we lie bundled

laying below you
i feel safe beneath you
cradled by dirt and fallen leaves
happy within a ring of trees
which one is the in-between
the shadow space defining what is seen
is there an end to where you lead
growing within a ring of trees
i am feeling into another way of being
deep and undercover i’m a seedling
patterns reveal what i’m needing
i am feeling into another way of being
laying below blue
there’s a song that seeps right through
all of the porousness in me
cells humm forgotten harmonies
did i close my eyes
to feel this spiraling inside
dancing with shapes i’ve never seen
circling within a ring of trees
i am feeling into another way of being
deep and undercover i’m a seedling
patterns reveal what i’m needing
i am feeling into another way of being

In light, in dark a lifelessness
Wandering, lost among the reeds
Waiting, two become one
I trust, I have seen
visionary dreams become reality
I hear, heed the call
luminescent pearls whisper on the breeze
Phenomena(menomena)
Don’t, don’t, don’t forget
I feel it, I believe it
I feel it, I believe it
I feel it
I slip, drift into the past
Listless, limited energy
I know this familiar scene
I trust, I have seen
visionary dreams become reality
I hear, heed the call
luminescent pearls whisper on the breeze
Phenomena(menomena)
Don’t, don’t, don’t forget
I feel it, I believe it
I feel it, I believe it
I feel it
I trust, I have seen
visionary dreams become reality
I hear, heed the call
luminescent pearls whisper on the breeze

Don’t, don’t, don’t forget
I feel it, I believe it
I feel it, I believe it
I feel it

Lost in a crowd
Their heads are hangin' down
But what they don't see
You shine like the moon to me
Through rows of trees
Breathing rhythmically
Restlessly
Just like I used to be
But I know now love greets in your dreams
A pink sunset
This one I won't forget
A crack in the sky
Horizon stretched for miles
And once in a while
When the moon refuses to shine
In the darkest night
I recall your light
Cause I know now love greets you with a smile
